Now, the Lord has given unto us certain promises and in order to benefit from those promises, we ought to connect to God in prayer.
One of the promises is “The Promise That Our Prayers Are Answered In The Name Of Jesus”.

John 16:23-24

In that day you will no longer ask me anything. Very truly I tell you, MY FATHER WILL GIVE YOU WHATEVER YOU ASK IN MY NAME.  Until now you have not asked for anything in my name. Ask and you will receive, and your joy will be complete.

Anything we ask in the name of Jesus shall be given unto us. Previously we talked about the need to pray but right now, we are talking about how we pray. Do we pour libation or pray in the name of an aunty or father? No, we pray in the name of Jesus Christ.
Names communicate something.  Sometimes if we want something from let’s say your siblings, we say mummy said this or daddy said that give me something. Jesus was trying to let his disciples know that although he was leaving them physically, He was leaving them with a guarantee that the things He used to provide for them will not be around anymore since he is gone. Rather, when they ask what they want in his name it shall be given unto them.
The name of Jesus is so important that in Philippians 2:8-10 it says that God has exalted Jesus to the highest place and has given Him the name that is above every name. So Jesus is saying is there anything you need? My name is a superior name to any other name and to any other word and at the mention of My name every knee shall bow. So I (Jesus) give you AUTHORITY to use the highest name on earth.

In Hebrews 4:14-16 Jesus is the high priest who intercedes (pleads or make petitions) on our behalf.
Jesus went to the cross so that anytime we have a challenge, He has given us the privilege to use his name because he has felt what we are feeling. He is in the position to say, “Father do it for them” because he knows what hunger is like.  If you have been hungry before and someone tells you “I’m hungry”, you will understand it. If you have felt rejected before and someone tells you that “I feel rejected”, you will understand it. So Jesus understands what we go through and what we may go through.  So he says that in order to come out of any challenging situation call on my name. Amen!

  1. Pray that as you call on the name of Jesus, you will come out of every challenging situation.
  2. Pray that your joy will be complete.
